Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible to develop new business opportunities and sales for PMC directly with OEM customers in automotive and industrial 3D sensing applications, and optical communications equipment.

This is a unique role whereby the Business Development and Technical Sales Director will be responsible to introduce, promote, qualify and sell PMC’s growing portfolio of optic MEMS devices, packaging and driver/actuator solutions into telecom/datacom optical communications applications, automotive and industrial 3D sensing applications that include LiDAR, machine vision, AR/VR and biometrics. He or she will be responsible for achieving product technical evaluations and purchase recommendations, new product design wins, and eventually annual revenue quotas.


Key Job Functions

  • Develop a deep understanding of PMC’s MEMS product portfolio and support products.
  • Identify and acquire strong knowledge of current and potential applications for our products both at the tier 1’s and OEMs.
  • Leverage and expand your professional network to introduce, promote, conduct technical evaluations, quote and design-in PMC’s products across the customer base.
  • Manage complex, multi-tiered product evaluation and development programs supporting both direct tier 1 customers and end OEM customers.
  • Understand and define customer applications requirements, translate them to product specifications for PMC engineering to support new product development.
  • Manage the commercial, technical and operations relationships, and be the primary liaison between the customer and PMC’s functional organizations (engineering, manufacturing, operations, etc.)
  • Develop close collaboration and engagement between PMC’s engineering team and the customer, to include regular engineering meetings.
  • Create and provide rolling quarterly long-range sales forecasts.
  • Drive customer product recommendations, new product design wins and above market revenue growth in the region.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in business development and sales to some combination of optical communications companies, automotive tier 1’s and OEMs, and industrial OEMs. Experience selling to automotive LiDAR companies is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of MEMS technology, optical communications, automotive and industrial 3D sensing applications.
  • Professional network of engineering, PLM, supply chain and senior management relationships with target customers.
  • Ability to work with customer and PMC engineering teams to develop concepts into products that fit the application need.
  • Experience with developing long-range sales forecasts and use of CRM tools to manage customer relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Candidate will ideally be based in or near Munich (open to consider alternative locations). Frequent travel to customer locations is expected. Must be able to work effectively from a home office environment.


Education Requirement

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, MBA is a plus.
